Phentermine vs Meridia?
I am trying to lose weight. I have started seeing a Dietician and have been working out. I am about 40lbs away from my weight goal. I have lost 10 lbs so far with diet and exercise. My doctor has perscribed me Merida 10 mg it does not seem to help. The pharmasist told me about phentermine and my doctor wont give it to me he says the risks are too high. Phentermine works better to control appetite and is 1/3rd of the cost. I dont know what to do. I know other people that had their docotor perscribe phentermine to them and it was successful. My understanding is there are risks for both merida and phentermine. I just want to know another opinon on it. Should I see someone else? I tried talking to my docotor about it again and even sent him info from the pharmasist. He was dead set on not doing it. Help

Phentermine does work, but it can make you crazy and be dangerous to your health at the same time (speaking from personal experience). In the end, I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the risks. I advise looking into other methods for natural appetite control while continuing to reduce your calorie intake (if possible) and bump up the frequency/intensity of your workouts if you can. Slow, safe weight loss is the preferred option.

Diet pills are a waste of money & time. The whole key to losing weight is to take in only enough food that you can work off. If your intake is more than you work off, you gain weight. Diet pills are a temporary thing, once you stop taking them, you go right back to gaining. You have to change your lifestyle, not rely on pills that can be addictive & harmful to your health.

Congrates on the weight loss! Keep up the good work. About six years ago I lost 100 lbs and have been keeping it off. I've taken both those drugs before and they worked for me but then stopped. Doc said my body built up a tolerant to the drug. He recommended me to rotate taking the pills 5 days and lay off for two. If you did the research and feel that the side effects are a risk you are willing to take then see another doctor. Take control of your medical care, docs don't always know best. Plus Ive heard might get kickbacks from the pharmacutical company for prescribing certain drugs.

Look into Hoodia. I take that right now to control my appetite. Don't buy the Walgreens or GNC stuff look for it at real health food stores. I prefer Sci Fit Hoodia 1500 EX capsules. go to scifitauthentic.com If you forget to take your pills regularly another company has developed a 24 hour patch. Be aware though taking this product for an extended period of time you build up a resistant to it and end up taking more. So maybe the two day off method is a good plan to stick by.

Well good luck there. You can do it, i know its hard but keep pushing through those evil cravings and work towards you goal. Don't let anything/anybody stop you. This is one thing thats worth being self centered for.

I tip i find useful now is to cut my food up into small portions and use chopsticks to eat. Makes eating very slow and you can enjoy the food more. Eating food with your hands might not be exceptable when you have company over, but it does allow you to feel more satisfied.

Best of Luck
